On immigration… Is being a therapist with a four year degree in Psychology considered skilled work?
I’ve seen a few references in the Psych field in the SOL but nothing specifically mentioning therapists.
All you can do is apply and cross your fingers. It’s certainly a skill, but it may not be a skill that is in short supply.

If I was looking to be a therapist, would it be better to finish my bachelors in social work or psychology?
I’m willing to get a masters or even PHD, I have a career currently that pays well, I’m going back to school because its something I want to do, I’m just not sure which would be the best route.
Both can lead to the same end-result… I would say that psychology would be a better route, as it will give you a firm grounding in the science behind psychology, and I think it can lead to a wider array of careers–basically, I think it leaves more doors open. You do not need a PhD to be a therapist, you need a masters. PhD is nice, but I was taught in my Clinical Psychology class that getting a PhD actually prices you out of the market. I guess you could charge the same as a therapist with a masters, but it would suck to get a PhD and get nothing to show for it.

In this demo the volunteer has an issue with smoking and wants to quit. The therapist is using Thought Field Therapy as a way to help this patient quit smoking. Thought Field Therapy or TFT was developed by Dr. Callahan who was one of the first energy psychologists. TFT is probably the best known technique of energy psychology among psychologists themselves. It is also one of the most researched of all the energy psychologies. It has been shown to be significantly more effective than cognitive therapy in many studies.
