I find that I can speak to my therapist about many thoughts I am having (including suicide) and she doesn’t overreact. My doctor doesn’t listen, and is always quick to write a prescription. Do others experience the same thing?

For me it’s been the psychiatrist because he knows when to step in and when not too. He is able to manage my medications and therapist are not legal able too.
I went through over 20 therapist, they all failed me big time! Finally my doctors (7) of them told me to see a psychiatrist because their more qualified is giving proper care. Also my psychiatrist has also took the time to sit with my wife and kids, and all 18 of my siblings to explain to them my situation and how dangerous it could be. The therapist told me it’s not his problem and it’s none of their business to know anything including me wife.
Out of 400 people who I know has tried a therapist your the only one that likes them.
I guess it just depends on what you want and how serious your situation is. I’ve learned that the more serious your illness is your better off with a psychiatrist. If it isn’t to serious then you see a therapist!
Each person has their own person that their comfortable with.

I start taking a Physical Therapy Assistance program Aug. 18th at my local community college and was wondering what all I would have to do to become an actual Physical Therapist AFTER doing the 2 year program? Will I just have to transfer to a 4 year college after taking the program, or is there much more to it than that?

Unfortunately, as a PTA, you will not make any progress towards the PT degree. You must start at "square one" like any other college freshman. After you graduate from the PTA program, you will need to attend a 4 year university and first obtain your BS in any given field, but must also complete all the prerequisite courses. This generally involves a lot of biology, psychology, chemistry and physics at levels that are not offered at the PTA level. After that, then you can apply to a graduate level PT program which is typically another 3 years.

So if you really have your heart set on becoming a PT, I would seriously consider dropping the PTA program and go straight to a BS degree and work on your prerequisites. The path you’ve currently chosen could take you 8-9 years instead of the standard 6-7.

If I can, where in Alabama can I get licensed?

I have a BS in Psych, and pretty much you have 2 options. Either become a lab assistant for someone with a higher degree, or go all the way to your doctoral degree in it.

A bach in psych is a wonderful thing to have – like an instruction book to the human mind – but it won’t get you very far on merit. If you find a generic job, a degree in psych will show that you are smart, and can stick with a program.

There are more physical /anatomy oriented classes that you will need to become an OT.

Where do I get started an all. Any suggestions of good therapists over the internet? And would they take the time to speak to me if I was a 13 year old?

Hullo there youngster. Any psychologist would almost certainly not ignore your request. However I do advise you to be cautious. If there is a specific question you would like answered, offer it to the answers community and take parental advice on its suitability. Fire away we are listening

I’ve decided I no longer want to live with this generalized anxiety weight holding me back from living right. I want to see if a good therapist can help get over my symptoms, but my question is how do you find one? Also are they alot of money?
Please anybody reply

If you want to expensive and the works, Psychiatrists, if you want the cheap way out, group therapy!

I would suggest going to a one on one therapist, if that doesn’t help in the next 4 months or so, go to a clinical psychologist

realize the therapy was going to come to end sooner or later

just remember all the helpful instruction ,coping skills and help your therapist gave you
